Fort Steilacoom Golf Course is a public 9-hole golf course located just down the street from Chambers Bay in Lakewood, Washington.
The course first opened for play in 1951.
This is a mature tucked away course that is short and narrow in spots with tall fir trees lining some holes. Fort Steillacoom is a straightforward layout. It's tree-lined fairways still require you to hit a straight shot. The ground is firm. The course drains well, it's ok to golf after it's rained.
Steilacoom is a 9-hole, par-34 golf course. It serves as a popular beginner and junior golf venue and offers Footgolf leagues.
The course closed on September 24, 2018.
A notice posted September 10, 2018, stated, "The nine-hole course, which sees about 16,000 rounds a year, will close on September 24th, 2018; annual pass members and those with vouchers will be allowed to access the course until those expire on September 30th. Tee-times will not be reserved, and cart availability will be limited after September 24th, reported the Weekly News.
